Environmental Policy
Last updated: 21 October 2026
A timber building should give years of use from a renewable material. We want each one we sell to last as long as possible and to reach your garden with as little waste as possible. This policy sets out how we go about it.
1. Responsibly sourced timber
Our buildings are made from FSC-certified timber from responsibly managed forests, where trees are replanted and the forest’s wildlife and the people who work in it are protected.
Timber stores carbon for as long as the building stands, which is why we put so much weight on making buildings that last.
2. Built to last
Every building is pressure-treated, which drives preservative deep into the timber and protects it from rot for 15 years. A longer life means fewer replacements and less timber used over time.
If a panel is ever damaged, ask us about a replacement part so the building can be repaired rather than thrown away. Our knowledge centre explains simple maintenance that keeps a building going for decades.
3. Delivery and packaging
Flat-pack buildings take far less space on a lorry than assembled ones, so more buildings travel on each journey. We use pallet couriers that combine deliveries on shared routes rather than sending a vehicle for each order.
We keep packaging to what is needed to protect the building. Timber pallets and bearers can be reused in the garden, and the plastic wrap can be recycled at most household recycling centres.
4. In our own business
- We send order confirmations and guides by email and on the website rather than printing them where we can.
- We reuse or recycle packaging and offcuts that come back to us with returns.
- We choose energy-efficient equipment and switch it off when it isn’t needed.
- We comply with all relevant environmental laws and regulations.
5. At the end of a building’s life
Treated timber should not be burned at home. When a building finally comes down, take the timber to your local household waste recycling centre, which can process it properly. Metal fixings and glass can be recycled separately.
6. Keeping it under review
We review this policy every year and welcome ideas from customers. Email info@nextdaysheds.co.uk with any suggestions.
